Remember, this act is NOT in place yet, so you can't do it until it passes as I am sure it will.
I motion to debate.

I agree. Carson's my friend and all, but I don't see a single reason not to have this freedom.

Debate takes place during the debate period. Soon, I will introduce legislation allowing members of the Assembly to vote "defer" which will allow us to put voting on hold and go back and debate for a while longer. Off-topic discussion belongs in the Cafe or other like forums. Why do we need this then?

because sometimes you just gotta say something and to make a comment to it in the Cafe and quote and link and make the connections takes too much energy and its just too darn stuck up and stifling.
its less about debate... more about promoting an aura of friendliness and a relaxed atmosphere.
this is a General Assembly, not a House of Lords, so to say.

And what is the point in blocking short, humorous comments?
We need to have a little fun, or else Lavalon would be a bore.

Okay, so why don't we just disband the Assembly and turn this forum into a humor board?

Carson, you're overreacting. There is a limit and we all know it. It is obvious to see that posts in the Assembly have always been somewhat more serious than the rest of Lavalon anyway.

Carson, you sound like Xon and that's never a good thing. We've actually had legislation come out of our random comments. The Free Juice and Bagel Party came to be in the same way in Natopia.
I never was one for total seriousness, life's too short for that.

*stops dancing like a maniac to "Saturday Night"*
President Neem, personal attacks will not be tolerated, even if made in jest.
I'd like you guys to know that the lack of formality in this Assembly is likely scaring away potential immigrants. I for one was rather put out by the mumbo-jumbo-ness of the G.A. when I first arrived.
I also don't like this bill because it undermines the power of the Chancellor. I was elected by a majority of the Assembly, I should be able to run the Assembly with the amount of formality I want to. If you really want me out, call a recall vote.

Fine! Then we can modify it to limit the "mumbo-jumbo" to 357 letters per person!
We don't want you out. We want you to be reasonable. Would President Bush throw out a member of his Cabinet for, let's say, supporting gay marraige? No. Not at all.

Yes Carson.. you were elected by a majority of the Assembly... therefore, don't you think you should be a little mindful of what the majority wants? We want a relaxed setting... frankly, if a potential immigrant wants a more formal legislture, then they can go elsewhere. Why be like everyone else? If all micronations were the same... it would defeat the purpose.
And besides... you were dancing in the Assembly... that is entirely inappropriate, you should be censored for that display of individuality and personality.

If this act passes, I am crediting it toward the Progressive Cheesehead Party, just to note.
I motion to vote. (And I was just kidding about the 357 words... we are NOT amending the original)

I second and vote an unequivocal NO.
