eh... Christophe and Henzelli are taking classes, so there is some interest. Given that, the General Assembly probably should make it official, especially if the Regent uses it. Though you may not use it yourself.

I don't think it should be "official." We all speak English. It can be a ceremonial language, like how Latin is ceremonial in the Vatican, and Old Church Slavonic is ceremonial in many predominantly-orthodox nations.

no one's going to stop using english here...i know that for a fact...
however we CAN make Lavang official, because it really should be. we need a national language, and one that is recognized by the government.

fine, make Lavang and English both official. Will that make everyone happy?

Sure. .. so long as Lavang's grammar is made an official standard by the General Assembly.

I am NOT typing up legislation in Lavang. If we want to make English and Lavang our official languages, fine. But there is no way that I am replacing English with Lavang--mainly because I have difficulty enough getting the encoding right to display Greek.

ok xon. write up a bill that will codify the grammar.
Also, i agree with Henzelli. English and Lavang will be officialized in the bill, but all documents will be produced in English. The Lavang Department will have the right (not responsibility, unless xon wants to be forced to do everything in Lavang) to publish official documents in Lavang.
compromise?

I am in the process of getting the grammar right, which might take a few more weeks. Then I will make the proposal.
neem, Henzelli, the General Assembly will continue to conduct its business in English only. Why? The Acts I want would not decide when Lavang should be used, but how it should be used (the grammar and core vocabulary).
Although, if the Regent does not mind, I would like to see Lavang on various logos, mottos, and other official pronouncements.

Okay, I agree to making English and Lavang the official languages. I will NOT, however, tolerate everything having to be done in Lavang. The vast majority of us can't make those Greek characters on our computers, and besides, none of us besides you, Xon, is fluent at this point.
Also, if you want to get some use out of the language...USE IT. Translate the constitution and laws. Translate famous books. Write poems in it.

I am currently working on something with Henzelli. No comment until it is finished, though.
