Okay, maybe I was stepping too broadly with my "high-ranking citizens" with "apathy" remarks. But I do have two questions: 1. What is the Neem Administration's policy on culture, and does it think culture is necessary? 2. Would the Neem Administration oppose any move by the cultural branch to officiate any philosophical system, be it Confucianism or Lavalism.

Ahhh, don't do that! Just post the thing again.
The culture is in the hands of the people. I'm not going to use any presidential powers to oppose culture or anything.
This has nothing to do with the "Neem Administration." It's just my personal opinion as a citizen. And last that I checked... all citizens have a say in culture, and as pres. I won't restrict or limit that.

AMEN NEEM!!!! Is there a law that makes apple pie, American? no. is there a law requiring fireworks on july 4th? no. i could go on... but culture is what the PEOPLE do, and the govt, by officializing anything cultural, just makes it stale and state-owned, and not very personal.
and no, im not against the cultural branch, that is there for things like symbols and seals and flags and the like... not to dictate our culture to us.

I mean, he's right, I agree with what he said. (I'm trying to be less redundant than usual!)

Well, different states do have different attitudes towards how much influence government should have on culture. France, for example, has a culture ministry that bans the use of certain foreign words and the broadcast of foreign TV shows. England has laws regarding its history and monarchy. Jon I'm sure can name more examples validating his power as Regent.

Making laws about history is dangerous, as it may become illegal to write about dark moments in the country's past.
I'm sorry, but France is stupid for making it illegal to say foreign words and broadcast foreign shows. Are they so insecure about their own snail-eating culture that they have to shut themselves off from the world and make it illegal to speak foreign words?!
France and England can have their opinions, of course, but Lavalon can have her opinion as well. To quote the PBP platform: "The government should not hinder the naturally developing culture of Lavalon."

As founder and chief adherant to Lavalism, (hasn't been much publicity, but hey) I would not support anyone making Lavalism the official "philosophy" of anything unless a super fascist party adhering to Lavalism is created. Then it's their prerogative. But because I am not the Pope of Lavalism (by the way, he's doing fine and still trucking. Long live Pope John Paul II! Woot! Super cool guy....I saw video of him gettin jiggy with some Italian hip hop dancers. I love the pope. ^_^) I cannot dictate the course of Lavalist politics. If it is made official by will of the people then I cannot fight it. However, I do not believe that such an oppressive philosophy as Confucianism will ever be adoped by the will of the people, nor do I believe that Lavalism will either.

No, I was only supporting the adoption of Lavalism as the alternative, it would be best because, by its nature, its not oppressive, "love everyone" is basically the core principle of every major religion.

That's true... surely, there is some religion that says you can hate people

well, my personal philosophy that i discussed in English class a few daya ago was "the only way you can be truly non-conformist, is to kill everyone else" and my english teacher agreed with me to an extent. and then the next class she donned a chicken suit and danced and clucked a song. im being serious here.
