Let's say, the voting for the Pres. Election happens and these are the votes: Neem: Herself, Nate and Zach Henzelli: Himself, Me and Matt (Unlikely now, but whatever.) What happens? Does the Regent get to cast the deciding vote? Does the Current President get to cast the deciding vote? Is it possible to do an online Coin Toss? Sorry, but I had to ask. It's my job as a Floridian.

That's exactly what I was wondering! Can we both be Pres? I wouldn't object to that!

I don't think so... What if you disagree on something? It could cause big problems.

I am predicting Tasneem the winner of this eleciton, since I am NOT voting for Mr Henzelli as I had earlier planned.

But still, what happens if there is a tie?

Both individuals would have a claim to the presidency, but since only one can be recognized--and the Chief Justice does all the recognizing around here--Nate would get to decide who is the real president. That is, as long as whoever he picks is one of those people who tied in first place.
Actually it does not say what I just said in the Basic Laws, but that is what would happen if there were to be a tie.

It's not in the basic laws, so how do we know that's "what would happen"? I think we should have a dual presidency in that case. The two of us would debate about what we don't agree on, then present a unified front. And if there's something we still disagree on, we would produce our separate views and the people would vote on what they like best. You sound very authoritarian when you talk like that, Xon, which I think illustrates my point that you see Lavalon as your personal plaything. NEEM AND HENZELLI FOR PREZ, '05!!!!! I am officially voting for both of us. ;D **Edited for stoopid formatting error. Grr.

thats a very interesting idea Henzelli... co-presidents... theoretically it could work... i like the idea, but im wary of any disagreements that may come between the two. also, if the presidents must debate on every issue, it will seriously bog down any activity in the executive branch, and that will affect the legislative process, most likely. its interesting, but i dont see it as practical, unless the Regent is given a more political role and is able to, sort of, moderate the presidents, or something... but, no offense Jon, I dont think the Regent should be a political position.
If we had more justices on our Court I would seriously suggest that the court decide.
any other tie breaking suggestions?

I dunno, what if I start disagreeing on what color is the best (blue all the way!) or what sport (baseball!!!)?
Just kidding!

I talked it over with my mom, and we figured the best thing to do would be a coin toss. Henzelli and Neem would pick heads or tails, and I would go to the bank, flip a coin in front of a Notery, and have the results noterized.
How about that?

Who's paying this notary.
I say you do it the old fashioned way. One candidate sends out a mass IM to other citizens that says "Rock", "Paper" or "Scissors", and so does the other candidate.
If "Rock and Paper", Paper covers Rock. If "Rock and Scissors", Rock dulls Scissors. If "Paper and Scissors", Scissors cut Paper.
Simple, yet elegant.

Well, in case of the notary, my mom gets free notary service from her bank.
I like the R-P-S idea... but i dunno. The notarized coin flip sounds more official.
