Revocation of Citizenships Bill
Section 1: A citizen may revoke their Lavalonian citizenship in a letter to the Department of the Interior. The revocation of citizenship shall take effect immediately, however, there shall be a thirty day grace period during which the former citizen may have their citizenship reactivated if they so desire. After that time has elapsed, they must re-apply for citizenship.
Section 2: If a citizen has not posted to the Lavalonian forums for thirty days or longer without having informed the President, Vice-President, Chancellor, or Chief Justice of a leave of absence, the Department of the Interior shall serve them a Notice of Inacitivity. The citizen in question shall have seventy-two hours to respond to the Notice of Inactivity.
Section 3: If someone whom a Notice of Inactivity has been issued to does not respond within the seventy-two hour time period, the Chief Justice shall attempt to contact them via electronic mail.
Section 4: If the citizen cannot be reached electronically, the Chief Justice shall attempt to contact them via postal mail.
Section 5: If the citizen did not respond to an inquiry from the Chief Justice within two weeks of the sending of the inquiry or the Chief Justice attempted to contact them via postal mail but was not able to locate the citizen's address, their citizenship in the Republic of Lavalon shall be revoked.
Section 6: There will be no grace period for a citizen who had their citizenship revoked because of inactivity.
Section 7: The Department of the Interior will have one week after the passing of this bill to issue Notices of Inactivity to all citizens who meet the criteria of Section Two of this bill.
